WHAT MADE YOU CONTACT STUDIO RUBIX?
Kate was recommended to us as a dietician with sports nutrition expertise. As a teenage girl, it was very hard to find information about the demands of high-level training and competition in a growing body. due to these specific needs, I sought professional help so I could continue running.
WHAT ARE YOUR HEALTH AND FITNESS GOALS?
- To reach peak performance as an adult by maintaining my health throughout my teenage years.
- To gain weight and then maintain it so I can maximize my strength and energy.
- To become in tune to my body’s needs nutritionally.
HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS?
My motivation is the idea that I could live up to my full potential and be as fast as possible. I love running, and want to be able to continue to do so all my life. My long term health is also a motivation to stay strong.
WHAT CHALLENGES (IF ANY) DO YOU FACE IN STRIVING FOR YOUR GOALS?
It can be hard to find information and support relating to gaining weight when most people want to do the opposite! That is why we ended up going to Toby and Kate. Sometimes it feels like a bit of a lonely fight because people don’t understand that gaining weight is harder for some people than losing it. Then there is the physical challenge of eating enough every day, whilst still feeling comfortable running.
TELL US ABOUT A COUPLE OF SUCCESSES THIS YEAR?
My biggest success in running this year would be representing New Zealand at the Australian Cross Country Championship after I won the New Zealand Secondary School CrossCountryChampionships. I have also recently overcome an injury to place 3rd in the 3000m and 1st in the 2000m steeplechase at the New Zealand Secondary School Athletics Championships. My biggest personal success was gaining weight whilst maintaining a full training and competition program, which was achieved through help from my family, friends, coach and studio Rubix.
