Meet the team and find out more about us...
Studio Rubix grew from a wee brainstorm whilst co-founders Kate and Toby were living in Russia balancing babies, professional rugby and culture shock. Health & wellness is a bit like a Rubik’s Cube; a little unpredictable and a constant challenge to juggle the various elements. There’s the physical, your nutrition, mental health, social relationships, restorative health & self-identity. Many people do not have balance. That is where we come in. We help you create it. Find out more about us and the team below…

Prior to starting this business in 2014, I was a professional rugby player for over 10 years. When your job is to be as fit and strong as possible with weekly games to challenge your abilities there is a huge pressure to be at your physical and mental prime. This experience has shaped me as a trainer immensely. I am passionate in working with everyday people and athletes to motivate them, manage or prevent injuries, and encourage people to move and function better.
- Antigravity Fitness Training (2021)
- Mindfulness Facilitator (Ovio, 2020)
- BNI member (2014-2021)
Kate Morland
- Member Australian and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders
- Australian Centre For Eating Disorders (Bronze level)
- Non-Diet Approach Dietitian (Health, Not Diets)
- Mindfulness Facilitation (Ovio, 2020)
- Family Based Therapy Training (NZEDC, 2020)

My passion for exercise and holistic health came from growing up on an orchard which led me to my studies. I am an enthusiastic and supportive person who loves to encourage others on their journey towards a balanced and sustainable lifestyle. I enjoy helping people feel proud of themselves and their accomplishments. In my spare time, I like keeping active, exploring the outdoors and on a calm sunny day, being out on my paddle board!

After a period of time prioritising travel, I moved to Wellington where I pursued Personal Training through the NZ Institute of Sport in 2020 (while I worked Full Time). Fast Forward to today – I’ve found my way to the Studio Rubix Community after coming back from Maternity Leave and deciding to take action in creating the vibrant life I imagine.
More and more I understand the importance of taking care of our mental health and the role that mindfulness and a balanced approach to the many aspects of life can play. Changing our approach, or starting something new has the potential to be a catalyst for creating, progressing, and achieving goals we mightn’t have even know we had. And in this role, I hope to help people find new ways they can move; feel good in their bodies; and challenge themselves to push beyond all they thought was possible. I can’t wait to get to know the Studio Rubix Community and to hope to see you in class, the studio or on the mat soon!

I am a dedicated and driven athlete with a strong passion for sports and fitness. I have recently completed a Bachelor’s of Strength and Conditioning monitoring in Nutrition at Canterbury University. I am committed to supporting fellow individuals in reaching their full potential, whether through tailored training, or offering guidance on nutrition to optimize performance. My goal is to help individuals at all levels navigate challenges, overcome obstacles, and achieve their dreams, while fostering a positive and supportive environment for growth. The impact fitness has on personal development and well-being is something I hold close to my heart, and I am eager to contribute to the success of others on their fitness journeys. I’m excited to be apart of the Studio Rubix team and look forward to leaning and growing alongside everyone in the Rubix community.

Kia ora, Studio Rubix family.
My name is Matt, I am super pumped to be joining the Studio rubix family. So let me give you a little insight about me and my background.
I have always had a love for health and fitness from playing sport at a high level (cricket mainly) and been lucky enough that it has taken me to many great places around the world. So for me it was no brainer for me to then complete my degree in a bachelor of exercise sport science. Since my completion of my degree I have worked as a Personal trainer for 5 years, where I have had the experience and success with coaching olympic weightlifting, strength and conditioning and rehabilitation. Also in 5 years I have added plenty strings to my bow such as level1 Australian strength and conditioning, level 1 strength and conditioning coach by the sport and exercise science New Zealand, Level 1 Olympic weightlifting, Level 1 catalyst athletic coach, Altis coach in human performance and biomechanics and an Altis performance therapist.
But don’t let this intimidate you, I am a coffee drinking and dog loving approachable trainer who has a pretty impressive sneaker collection!
