Meet the team and find out more about us...
Studio Rubix grew from a wee brainstorm whilst co-founders Kate and Toby were living in Russia balancing babies, professional rugby and culture shock. Health & wellness is a bit like a Rubik’s Cube; a little unpredictable and a constant challenge to juggle the various elements. There’s the physical, your nutrition, mental health, social relationships, restorative health & self-identity. Many people do not have balance. That is where we come in. We help you create it. Find out more about us and the team below…

Prior to starting this business in 2014, I was a professional rugby player for over 10 years. When your job is to be as fit and strong as possible with weekly games to challenge your abilities there is a huge pressure to be at your physical and mental prime. This experience has shaped me as a trainer immensely. I am passionate in working with everyday people and athletes to motivate them, manage or prevent injuries, and encourage people to move and function better.
- Antigravity Fitness Training (2021)

- Member Australian and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders

- Non-Diet Approach Dietitian (Health, Not Diets)

After a period of time prioritising travel, I moved to Wellington where I pursued Personal Training through the NZ Institute of Sport in 2020 (while I worked Full Time). Fast Forward to today – I’ve found my way to the Studio Rubix Community after coming back from Maternity Leave and deciding to take action in creating the vibrant life I imagine.
More and more I understand the importance of taking care of our mental health and the role that mindfulness and a balanced approach to the many aspects of life can play. Changing our approach, or starting something new has the potential to be a catalyst for creating, progressing, and achieving goals we mightn’t have even know we had. And in this role, I hope to help people find new ways they can move; feel good in their bodies; and challenge themselves to push beyond all they thought was possible. I can’t wait to get to know the Studio Rubix Community and to hope to see you in class, the studio or on the mat soon!

Being active has always been an important part of my life. I danced for 20yrs, played rugby in high school, then later on I learnt weightlifting and boxing. As you can see I like to mix it up and I’m always up for a challenge. Feeling strong and see what your body can do is pretty amazing.
I have lived in 5 different countries, I love travelling and especially exploring the outdoors. Now in my 30’s, I have come to realise that health and the ability to move my body are a privilege, something I want to hold on for as long as I can. As the saying goes, use it or lose it!
A few years ago I discovered the benefits of fascia stretch therapy which I’m now offering at Studio Rubix. If you want healthier joints, better range of motion, or simply unwind, hit me up!

The experiences in my life are what have fueled my passion for holistic health. From a young age I was dedicated to the Martial Art Taekwondo, this saw me earning a blackbelt and representing New Zealand. The training and competitions tested me both physically and mentally. In 2017 my life changed because my Mum was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer and died later that year. During this time I started to consider more about nutrition and my interest for it grew. My passion for nutrition and physical activity led me to my studies. I’m excited to share my passion and help individuals strive to feel more balanced in life.

My passion for health and exercise began from a young age as a competitive gymnast. Unfortunately the territory came with many injuries, but luckily I found a physical therapist who introduced me to reformer pilates and the importance of safety and form during exercise. Through high school I competed in equestrian vaulting using the key components of pilates; balance, core strength, flexibility and mobility, to compliment my performance in the sport.
I am excited to help people find their own strength and balance to better their lives. When I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me in my final year at Massey studying Vet.

My passion for exercise and holistic health came from growing up on an orchard which led me to my studies. I am an enthusiastic and supportive person who loves to encourage others on their journey towards a balanced and sustainable lifestyle. I enjoy helping people feel proud of themselves and their accomplishments. In my spare time, I like keeping active, exploring the outdoors and on a calm sunny day, being out on my paddle board!

Hey there, wonderful people! I’m Ruby, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be part of the amazing team here at Studio Rubix. Let me give you a glimpse into my world.
I’ve always been fascinated by the intricate relationship between the human body and exercise. That’s why I pursued my passion by completing a degree in Sports Science and later a postgraduate diploma in Exercise Physiology right in the mighty Waikato. Armed with knowledge and experience, I’m here to inspire the good folks of Manawatu to find their equilibrium and embrace a healthier, happier lifestyle. After my studies, I embarked on an exciting journey working in various gyms, where I honed my skills and gained valuable experience helping others achieve their fitness goals. But my thirst for adventure led me to spend some time cruising the seas on superyachts around the world.
Now, back home in Palmerston North, I’m more passionate than ever about spreading wellness wisdom. When I’m not here helping you find your zen, you’ll likely find me on my yoga mat, taking long nature walks while listening to a podcast, enjoying coffee dates, or lost in the pages of a good book—it’s the little things, right? So, if you’re ready to embark on a journey to wellness, swing by the studio. I’ll be here, ready to chat, laugh, and empower you every step of the way. Let’s make magic happen together!
