The Crew

Studio Rubix grew from a wee brainstorm whilst co-founders Kate and Toby were living in Russia balancing babies, professional rugby and culture shock. Health & wellness is a bit like a Rubik’s Cube; a little unpredictable and a constant challenge to juggle the various elements. There’s the physical, your nutrition, mental health, social relationships, restorative health & self-identity. Many people do not have balance. That is where we come in. We help you create it.

Prior to starting this business in 2014, I was a professional rugby player for over 10 years. When your job is to be as fit and strong as possible with weekly games to challenge your abilities there is a huge pressure to be at your physical and mental prime. This experience has shaped me as a trainer immensely. I am passionate in working with everyday people and athletes to motivate them, manage or prevent injuries, and encourage people to move and function better. My advice is to find a goal, motivation or something you enjoy and base your lifestyle around it.

I hale from Scotland, but have lived in New Zealand since 2014. I believe exercise should be enjoyable and enhance your life, not a chore that you have to do to stay healthy. I personally love walking and going on adventures, whether that be a quick walk after dinner or abseiling and climbing through a canyon. Good food, being active and lots of laughter make for a healthy happy life. I look forward to helping you achieve just that.

I am a country girl at heart, growing up on a dairy farm in the Manawatu meant I was lucky enough to have an active childhood helping on the farm or being involved in competitive sports, this being on water, on the field and on the court. I like to encourage a balanced lifestyle through physical activity, nutrition, mental health and a positive outlook. I am excited by the possibility of helping people achieve that balanced lifestyle.

I have a passion in working with high performance athletes and also non-athletes looking to function better through fitness.
