Class Info

Aerial Yoga Beginners

This Beginners aerial class combines pilates and yoga movements and enables you to experience the zero-compression inversion that AntiGravity Fitness is so famous for. You will learn grips and technique so you can enjoy the progressions with confidence and safety.

Aerial Yoga Intermediate

Once you have mastered the basics in beginners classes you can progress to our intermediate class where we progress fundamental movements and challenge you with poses and inversions to build your strength, flexibility and confidence.

Aerial Yoga Restorative

Restorative Aerial Yoga takes place in a low hammock suspended just off the floor to enable deep release through muscles and joints. Think long stretches, guided breathing meditations and a feeling like your body is floating and light. Highly recommended!

Mat & Barre Pilates

Mat & Barre pilates is a high energy way to gain full body strength and muscle tone. You will work with props such as balls, bands and the barre under the guidance of an instructor who can ensure you are tailored for in regards to fitness level and ability. Suitable for all ages. Regressions and progressions to suit all fitness levels.

Mindfulness & Meditation

Aerial Mindfulness & Meditation takes place in both floor seats with some meditation poses in the low aerial hammock. Each class is different and we teach you tools including breathwork, meditation, journaling and discussion to better cope with difficult emotions, thoughts and stress. Classes are 45mins.

What do I wear?

  • Wear t-shirts that cover your underarms (for comfort and hygiene purposes)
  • Wear close-fitting clothing preferably, or which you can tuck in.
  • Tights or longer shorts for men. Please ensure these do not have zips.
  • Remove jewellery, watches and hair clips which can damage our hammocks.

Is there a weight limit?

The hammocks are tested to support over 500kg, the size of a baby elephant, so rest assured you can trust your hammock to support you.

I get dizzy and motion sick easily, what should I do?

Our Aerial fitness classes do include moving in the hammock which can cause sensations of dizziness, motion sickness and tension in certain people. What we suggest is you disclose this to us in your screening process and we can guide you through some modifications. It can take a few classes to become accustomed to the movements, learn how to relax and breathe properly. We also have ginger on-hand if that helps settle the stomach. We emphasise the need to monitor your own resistance so you have ‘chillax’ position to resort to if feeling unwell.

Do I need to be strong or flexible to do Aerial Class?

No. We are very experienced trainers and can adapt exercises to suit all abilities; as long as you have use of all your limbs and are not suffering from an acute injury you will be catered for in our Introduction class.

When do I know to move to the Intermediate class?

We enforce a minimum of 1 Introduction class, but suggest you may do 4 or more to gain confidence with the techniques. We will be able to guide you on your progressions too.

What are the contraindications to Aerial Class?

We perform zero-compression inversions during our classes which in basic terms, flips you upside down! Sound scary but we guarantee you that this will be the easiest inversion you will ever do. We also can modify and adapt this movement for you if you prefer not to invert. There are many other benefits of our classes without inverting.

Precautions to inversions should be taken if you:

  • Have very low or very high blood pressure or heart abnormalities
  • Have glaucoma or recent eye surgeries
  • Are pregnant (our aerial fitness classes are not suitable for pregnancy)
  • Easy onset vertigo, dizziness, fainting
  • Botox within the last 6 hours
  • Spinal injuries
  • If you’re just not sure, talk to us!
