Banana Berry Smoothie Bowl 🍓🍌

As the warmer days arrive, it’s the perfect time to enjoy fresh, seasonal flavours. This smoothie bowl combines ripe bananas with a mix of vibrant berries, creating a refreshing and nutritious treat. Topped with fresh fruits, seeds, and a sprinkle of granola, it’s the ultimate spring/summer breakfast or snack!

Ingredients:

For the smoothie base:
  • 2 ripe small bananas or 1 large banana (frozen for a thicker texture)
  • 1-1.5 cups fresh or frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt (or a plant-based alternative)
  • ¼ cup almond milk (or any milk of choice)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
For the toppings:
  • Fresh fruit e.g. sliced banana, kiwifruit, berries etc
  • Toasted coconut flakes
  • Pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds
  • A drizzle of honey, maple syrup or peanut butter (optional)
  • Granola for added crunch

Instructions:

  1. Add the frozen bananas, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, yogurt, and almond milk to a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more almond milk until you reach your desired consistency.
  3. Pour the smoothie into a bowl. Top with fresh fruit.
  4. Sprinkle the toasted coconut flakes, seeds, and granola over the top.
  5. Drizzle with honey, maple syrup or peanut butter.
  6. Enjoy!

Notes:

  • Bananas are a great source of potassium, helping to support heart health and maintain healthy blood pressure.
  • Berries are packed with antioxidants, which can help reduce inflammation and support overall immune health
  • Make it ahead & freeze the smoothie base in a container overnight. In the morning, simply thaw slightly and blend for a quick, refreshing breakfast!
  • Add protein powder or nut butter into the smoothie for an extra protein boost, or swap granola for crushed nuts if you want a lower-carb option.
