🌸 Pink Ribbon Morning Tea Recap – A Morning of Connection, Awareness & Generosity 🌸

What an incredible morning! Our Pink Ribbon Morning Tea was a heartfelt success — full of meaningful conversations, delicious food, and an overwhelming sense of connection and community. It was so lovely to see such a great turnout, and we had an awesome time chatting and sharing with everyone who came along to support this important cause.

Thanks to your generosity, we’ve raised an amazing $1,418, which puts us 95% of the way towards our $1,500 fundraising goal! We’re so close — and every dollar is helping make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.

A huge thank you to our generous sponsors who helped make the morning so special:

  • Hello Sunshine Espresso & Eats, for donating some delicious food

  • Sandra, for baking the most amazing homemade scones

  • Alchemy and I and Niche, for donating beautiful gift cards for our goodie bags

We also wanted to share a powerful and personal message from Kate, who spoke during the morning tea. Her words beautifully capture the spirit and purpose of the event:

The Pink Ribbon has become the universal symbol of breast cancer, illustrating the cause, raising awareness and bringing women (and men) together in solidarity. The $ raised are invested into education, research and patient support — and ultimately, helping to bring breast cancer deaths to zero.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Kiwi women — 1 in 9 will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime. Unfortunately, 650 women in NZ die from the disease every year.

So what else can we do on a more regular basis?

Our efforts can be small but the impact large. It can start with putting yourself on the to-do list and being breast aware — educate yourself on risks, regularly self-check, and invest time (and $) into your mammograms & ultrasounds.

At 40 years old I decided to get a baseline mammogram. My experience was not so positive — I was made to feel like I was in the wrong place, as I was not presenting with risk factors. It was rather uncomfortable and there is not much dignity to the procedure. However, when I was then reviewed by the specialist I was informed I needed to have annual checks due to a high-risk tissue type — and that I was very lucky in coming today. What a turnaround in my experience. I was at the right place at the right time of my life.

As a busy woman and mother of 4, putting my own checks before all else can be challenging, but so vital. I believe my health is the most important thing I have — as without it I am not able to perform my roles. And above all, I believe that we lead and inspire by our actions. If my children & my friends and family see me looking after my health and wellbeing, they will be empowered to do so also.

Kate’s story was a reminder of why mornings like this matter so much — not just for the funds raised, but for the awareness sparked, the conversations started, and the encouragement it gives others to take action for their health.

Thank you again to every single person who donated, attended, and supported. Together, we’re making a real difference.

There’s still a little time to help us reach our goal — every bit counts. If you’d still like to donate, you can donate via our Pink ribbon Fundraising page here.

Thanks for your support, always.
