How to get inspired for 2017

Welcome to 2017!

It’s going to be a great year! Unlike most years where we return back to work after a sunsoaked summer, those of us in many parts of NZ have been out of luck. Rain, wind, dull days have dominated our summer so far but let’s not lose focus of what’s ahead.

I like to think of myself as a bit of a stickler for writing lists (goals included) but most often they become bits of paper with doodlings or note paper for the grocery list.  Halfway through last year, I discovered my goals list buried under a pile of workstuff…needless to say, not many of my goals were achieved because they simply were not visualised regularly enough. This year I wanted to share a new idea to get you pumped and ready for the months ahead.

Let’s create a fun goals board or simply things you want to be grateful for, achieve and occupy your life with. Grab some photos that inspire you, some holiday pics from a mag, fitness clothing, landscape ideas, yummy recipes to try, words or quotes that hit the emotional spot. These are the things that are going to get you empowered and motivated this year! Get excited about doing something different!

Have you set goals in the past and not achieved them? Why? Were they realistic, specific enough, able to be measured? I like to question clients that say they ‘want to lose weight’ and ask, ‘what is going to change for you when you do?’ or ‘what is your weight getting in the way of’? I have a fabulous client who recreated her goal to lose weight to “I want to sit on a beach and feel like I belong here” and “I want to see a holiday package to Fiji and know I can and will go”.

Here is an example of mine that I created in all of 30min while eating breakfast and drinking coffee (also while my parents had our children for the night!)
